Allan L. Lurvey

July 27, 1916 - June 22, 2009

Allan L. Lurvey, 92, of Dousman, passed away Monday, June 22, 2009, at the Masonic Home in Dousman. He was born July 27, 1916, in the town of Ottawa to Harvey and Jessie (nee Barnhart) Lurvey.

Allan was a lifelong resident of Dousman. He married Doris Howell on March 6, 1940, and he farmed in the Dousman area his entire life. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ottawa, where he served as a trustee and elder, past member of the Ottawa School Board, Ottawa town planning commission and past supervisor for the town of Ottawa.

Allan will be missed by his wife, Doris; children, Judith (William) Legawiec of Eagle, Kenneth (Linda) Lurvey of Dousman, Karl Lurvey of Dousman; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Allan is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Doris Morris and Helen Hayhurst, and brother, William Lurvey.

A funeral service for Allan will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, at the First Presbyterian Church of Ottawa, 35415 Highway D, Dousman (at highways C and D), with the Rev. Linda Pflugfelder officiating. Burial will follow at the Town of Ottawa Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 25, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday, June 26, at the church.
