Ruth D. Oemig (nee Neddersen)

June 7, 1911 - Feb. 28, 2009

Ruth D. Oemig (nee Neddersen), a longtime resident of Waukesha, died peacefully Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009, at LindenGrove Health Care Center at age 97. She was born in Milwaukee on June 7, 1911, the daughter of Henry and Emilie Neddersen.

At age 4, she moved with her family to a farm in Muskego where she attended Mill Valley School. She later graduated from Waukesha High School. Following her marriage to Wilford G. Fieldhack, they made their home in Waukesha. Ruth was a faithful member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waukesha, since 1930. She was involved in many church activities through the years, including the Dorcas Society and the Trinity School PTA. Ruth was employed by Century Fence and later the Waukesha County Treasurerís Office. Following her marriage to Richard L. Oemig in 1961, they enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida. In the 1970s, they were the proprietors of the Grandview Lodge Motel in Chetek. Ruth loved life and made friends wherever she went. She will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann (Wayne) Kabelowsky of Waukesha and Nancy (Joseph) Weinkauf of Mukwonago; son, Roger (Lynda) Oemig of Marshfield; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Wilford Fieldhack; husband, Richard Oemig; son, Jack Fieldhack; and brothers, Elmer Neddersen and Orville Neddersen.

Ruthís family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Gerald N. Berman for his compassionate and steadfast care of Ruth through the years. Also to the staff of LindenGrove Health Care Center for their committed and loving care of Ruth through her four-year residency.

The funeral service for Ruth will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 3 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1052 Whiterock Ave., Waukesha. The Rev. Larry Gates will officiate. The visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the 11:30 a.m. service Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha.
