Alfred J. ĎAlí Baumann

Aug. 17, 1930 - March 6, 2009

Alfred J. "Al" Baumann of Waukesha, surrounded by his family, died Friday, March 6, 2009, at AngelsGrace Hospice at the age of 78. Al was born in Thiensville on Aug. 17, 1930, the son of Walter and Lena Kiehnau, and was later adopted by Ernst and Louise Baumann.

Al graduated from Oconomowoc High School in the class of 1948. He was united in marriage on April 24, 1954, to Margaret Roberts. Having worked as a production manager, Al was employed for Genesee Aggregate for more than 30 years.

Al was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Waukesha, and a member of the Waukesha Golden Agers. Al enjoyed riding his motorcycle and working on antique engines. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. Al proudly served in the Army in the 17th Infantry Regiments King Company "Buffalos" during the Korean Conflict. He was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 721 Soat-Vergenz.

Al will be deeply missed by the love of his life, his wife, Margaret; sons, Guy (Sandra) Baumann and Glen (Sharon) Baumann; daughter, Gail (John) Hunkins; grandchildren, Claudia (Jeff), Joel, Steve, Shawn, Aaron and Jake; great-grandchildren, Mercedes, Lillian and Gabriella; sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Rozell of Wild Rose, Florance Kopas of Fort Atkinson and Evangaline "Eva" MacCrone of Huntsville, Ala.; sister in-law, Helen Buchholz; and many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Al is preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral service for Al will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 1941 Madison St., Waukesha. Officiating are the Rev. Michael Turriff and the Rev. Charles Papenfuss. The visitation will be held from 2:30 p.m. until the time of the 4:30 p.m. service at the church followed by military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church (see address above) or to the charity of the donorís choice.
