Berneice C. Billings

Berneice C. Billings 79, of Waterloo passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009, at Columbus Community Hospital.

Berneice was born on Aug. 28, 1929, in Waukesha, the daughter of Ernest and Christine (Dahl) Pettis. She married Clarence Lorne Billings on July 24, 1948, in Waukesha.

She was a member of Waterloo United Methodist Church and was the church secretary for a number of years; a member of the Hubbleton Homemakers; Friends of Karl Junginger Memorial Library; co-founder of the Waterloo and Marshall Food Pantry and served meals on wheels. She loved sewing, gardening and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence Lorne Billings of Waterloo; two sons, Edward (Jackie) Billings of Waterloo and Allan (Patricia) Billings of Lake Mills; two daughters, Linda Boynton of Richmond, Va., and Christine Gossen of Waterloo; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Shirley) Pettis of Waukesha and Carl (Wilma) Pettis of Eagle; two sisters, Phyllis Howlett of Oconomowoc and Agnes Hockett of Merrill; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Patricia and one brother.

Memorials to Waterloo United Methodist Church or Waterloo Marshall Food Pantry would be appreciated.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, March 23, at Waterloo United Methodist Church with the Rev. Markus Wegenast officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the church.
