Michael Steven Morris

Aug. 27, 1947 - April 22, 2009

Michael Steven Morris of Fox Lake died unexpectedly Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at his winter home in Marco Island, Fla., at age 61. He was born in Waukesha on Aug. 27, 1947, the son on Melvin and Ruth (nee Davis) Morris.

He was a 1965 graduate of Waukesha South High School. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in the summer of 1965 and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha for two years and then Milwaukee County General Hospital School of Nursing, where he earned first his registered nurse degree and then a registered nurse anesthetist degree. He worked mainly at Hartford Memorial Hospital and Waupun Memorial Hospital. In the early 1980s, Mike purchased the American Legion from Tony and Bert and was part owner of Grimby’s. In the mid-1980s, he moved to Fox Lake, where he resided until his death. Mike enjoyed fishing, duck and goose hunting, traveling, golfing, real estate renovation and speculation and spending time with friends and family. He was a “people person.” He had friends from all walks of life and all parts of the country. His generosity and sense of humor will be missed by many.

Mike is survived by his daughter, Hannah Susan (Chris), and grandson, Calvin Michael Timmel, both of Fort Atkinson; dear friend and former wife, Sally Morris of Waukesha; mother, Ruth Morris of Fox Lake; brothers, Rick (Roxanne) and John; sister, Martha (Brian) Paul; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin, and sister, Patricia.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. memorial service Monday, May 4, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, with the Rev. Matthew Noffke officiating.
