Nicolas Scott Remfrey

Nicolas Scott Remfrey, age 18 months, died unexpectedly Saturday, April 25, 2009, after being found unresponsive in his crib the previous afternoon. Despite heroic efforts by Nic’s caregivers, parents and several medical facilities, he was removed from life support and allowed to die in his parents’ arms. 

Nicolas is survived by his parents, Brian and April Remfrey of Woodinville, Wash., and former residents of the Milwaukee area. Besides many relatives and friends, Nic will be sadly missed by his grandparents, Dwayne and Rachel Johnson of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Frank and Suzanne Remfrey of Waukesha. 

A memorial service to celebrate Nic’s short life was held in Kirkland, Wash., on Wednesday, April 29. 

The family has established The Nicolas Remfrey Memorial Scholarship at Luther College, Brian and April’s alma mater. In lieu of flowers, contributions sent to Doug Nelson at the Luther College Development Office, 700 College Drive, Decorah, IA 52101, will be appreciated.
