Fletcher Mason Cox of Waukesha died Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Manor Care
Health Services of Pewaukee at age 83. She was born Jan. 20, 1926, in
Elgin, Ill., the daughter of Irving and Edna (nee Fletcher) Mason. Janet
graduated from Dundee Community High School and later received her
bachelorユs
degree in home economics from Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. After
obtaining her teaching certificate, she taught grade school in Denver
until she was united in marriage to Cecil Cox on Aug. 26, 1950. She was a
member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Waukesha, where
she belonged to the Plymouth Circle for several years. Janet had a love of
the outdoors, which included hiking and bird watching with her husband,
and an interest in geology. She had a lifetime love of music, particularly
choral and violin, and also enjoyed researching family genealogy. Janet
always had a positive attitude and cheery smile, which was appreciated by
many. Janet
will be deeply missed by her children, Douglas (Joy) Cox of San Jose,
Calif., and Margaret 'Peggy'
(Barry Douglas) Cox of Seattle, and
grandchildren, Benjamin and Emily Cox.
She
was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil, in November of 2007; her
sister, Margaret Bedient; and her parents. Visitation
will be held from 5 p.m. until the 7 p.m. funeral service Monday, May 11,
at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 100 E. Broadway,
Waukesha, WI 53186. The Rev. Matthew Noffke will preside. Burial will take
place Tuesday, May 12, at Little Woods Cemetery in St. Charles, Ill.
