Gladys A. Visauer

May 11, 1927 - May 3, 2009

Gladys A. Visauer, of Sun City West, Ariz., entered eternal life on May 3, 2009, at age 81 after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Gladys was born on May 11, 1927, to Benjamin and Agnes (Kearney) Flintrop in Franklin. She graduated from St. Martin’s elementary school and worked on the family farm. She was a direct descendent of Michael Kearney, early settler of Racine County, who immigrated from Cashel, Ireland, in 1836. Gladys took great pride in her Irish heritage.

Gladys and Robert B. Visauer were united in marriage on June 29, 1946. Together they raised seven children while residing in New Berlin for 38 years. During those years, Gladys was a busy mother and homemaker who actively volunteered her time and talents to Holy Apostles Catholic Church and School and various community organizations. Among her favorite activities was spearheading the "Maxwell Street Days" tent at the annual church picnic.

Gladys treasured her special "Top-O-Hill" friends and enjoyed rummage sales, baking, sewing, crocheting, playing cards, playing the organ and hosting events for family and friends.

Gladys and Robert retired to Sun City West, Ariz., in 1991, where she continued to practice her faith and serve her church community. A celebration of life took place on May 8, 2009, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Arizona.

Gladys will be deeply missed by her husband of sixty-two years Robert Visauer (Sun City West, AZ); children, Kathleen O’Toole Dalsey (Bernard) of Whitewater, Wayne Visauer (Flerdeliza) of West Allis, Christine Lackey of Lynwood, Wash., Mary Higley (Robert) of Plover, Brian Visauer (Penny) of Belleville, Paula Dutt (Abhijit) of Cranberry Township, Pa.; sister, Dorothy Farchione of Greenfield; and brothers, Gerald Flintrop (Lois) of Eagle River, and Harold Flintrop (Lucy) of Franklin. Gladys was very proud of her grandchildren, Bridget, Erin, Kaylin, Michael, Cassandra, Kathryn, Sarah, Blake, Andrea and Bela. She also treasured her ten great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, many other relatives and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Agnes Flintrop; brothers, Clarence Flintrop, Joseph Flintrop; sisters, Margaret (Farchione) Flintrop, Alice Flintrop; and son, Kenneth Robert Visauer.

During her life, Gladys found great strength and comfort in her faith in God and his promise of eternal life. A celebration of life mass will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, June 12 at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 16000 W. National Ave. New Berlin. A private burial will follow at St. Martins of Tours Cemetery in Franklin. Family and friends are welcome to attend a luncheon at 12:30 p.m. at Meyer’s Restaurant, 4260 S. 76th St., Greenfield, to share their special memories.

In lieu of flowers, Gladys requested donations be made to The Catholic Outreach Center, 12301 W. Bell Road, Suite A-103, Surprise, AZ 85374.

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."
