Erv Siegrist

Erv Siegrist of Waukesha passed away Monday, May 25, 2009, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at age 90. Erv was born in Calumet County on July 1, 1918, the son of Louis and Tillie Siegrist.

Erv graduated from Hilbert High School, attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Spencerian Business College in Milwaukee. He proudly served in the finance division of the 8th Air Force during World War II. Upon returning to Waukesha, he worked in financial business until he was elected as the city comptroller of Waukesha. On Feb. 28, 1942, Erv married the love of his life, Dorothy Hunkins. Together they spent 67 wonderful years building their life and family. Erv was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Waukesha. He was an accomplished musician who played five instruments and wrote, arranged and recorded music. He was a member of the Red Raven Band and Cecil and The Midnight Rounders, who were broadcast on public radio in Green Bay. Ervs greatest joy in life was his family. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor.

Erv will be dearly missed by his family: wife, Dorothy; children, Dennis (Jerri) of Waukesha, Bob (Sue) of Boulder, Colo., Carol (Myron) Spoehr of Lake Mills and Jan (John) Simon of Waukesha; nine grandchildren, DJ (Rachel), Scott (Debbie), Mike, Jonathan, Brandon, Ryan, Lizzie, Danny and Nate; four great-grandchildren, Cristian, Caitlin, Matthew and Bailey; brother, Cal (Judy) Siegrist of Green Bay; sister in-law, Virginia; and other relatives and friends.

Erv is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. celebration of Ervs life Friday, May 29, at First United Methodist Church, 121 Wisconsin Ave., Waukesha, with the Rev. Donald Fenner officiating. Private family burial will be held at Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha.
