Donald F. Peters, 82, of Johnson Creek, formerly a resident of Delafield for 50 years, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009, in Juneau. Donald was born in Waupun on Aug. 7, 1926, son of John and Laura (Doty) Peters.

On July 22, 1946, he married the former Elizabeth Oligney in Iowa City, Iowa.

Donald served in the U.S. Marine Corps in China during World War II.

He retired from Oliver Construction Co. in Oconomowoc after 37 years of employment and was a member of Brick Layers Local No. 8. He loved spending time with his family, fishing, hunting and traveling in his RV.

Donald is survived by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Peters of Johnson Creek; five sons, Stephen (Julie) of Fort Atkinson, Alvin (Althea) of Lowell, Russell (Sue) of Waukesha, Dale (Julia) of Waukesha, Bruce (Keyla) of Helenville and Linda Koeppel of Farmington; adopted daughter, Barb (Curt) Eigenberger of Oconomowoc; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Meta) Peters of Waukesha; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, a brother and two sisters.

Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects from noon until the 2 p.m. funeral service Monday, June 1, at Hafemeister Funeral Home, 611 E. Main St., Watertown, with the Rev. Lee Meissner of Christ United Methodist Church in Watertown officiating. Burial will be in Delafield Cemetery with military graveside rites.
