James D. Reise

James D. Reise of Venice, Fla., and Waukesha, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009.

He was born Dec. 8, 1928, to Howard and Elizabeth Reise in Milwaukee.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth E. Reise (nee Werner), and children, David D. Reise and Cynthia (Daryl) Wessel, as well as grandchildren, Lauren and Daniel Wessel, all of Waukesha. He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Bukoske of Milwaukee, along with many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Catherine Reise; and brother, Donald.

James graduated from Bay View High School in 1946. He served his country during the Korean War and married Ruth on Aug. 15, 1953, in Milwaukee.

After working at General Electric/Hotpoint in Milwaukee, he began his career in real estate as a partner at H&R Realty in Milwaukee. He later went to work as a real estate appraiser for the state of Wisconsin Department of Transportation, division of highways, in Milwaukee and later located in Waukesha.

After residing in Milwaukee until 1970, they moved to Pretty Lake near Dousman, where they were active in the Pretty Lake Advancement Association, serving as officers. After retirement, he resided in Venice, Fla., and Waukesha.

He became a member of Prince of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Englewood, Fla., and was confirmed Nov. 19, 2000.

He enjoyed spending time hunting with his son and friends, fishing with his grandchildren and traveling with his wife, Ruth.

Visitation will be at the Krause Funeral Home, 12401 W. National Ave., in New Berlin from 4 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Monday, June 1, with a funeral service at 7 p.m. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
