Roman "Penny" J. Penning, 86, of New London, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at Appleton Medical Center.
Roman was born Dec. 25, 1922, in Cambridge, the son of the late Alfred and Mary (nee Ludwig) Penning. On Feb. 7, 1948, he married Shirley Galoff in Waukesha. Roman was a well-known auto body repair man in the Waukesha area.
He is survived by his two daughters, Mary (Paul) Shepherd of Waukesha and Kathy (Bob) Talatzko of Mukwonago; four sons, Ron (Arlene) Penning of Westboro, Dennis Penning of North Freedom, John (Debbie) Penning of Sullivan and Dave (Jaci) Penning of Mukwonago; two sisters, Eleanore Franzen of Chilton and Georgianna Meyer of Fond du Lac; 21 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley "Pat" in 2003; daughter, Shirley; son, Roman; and two brothers, Mike and Sam.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. memorial service Saturday, Nov. 7, at Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah’s Witness in New London, with Ken Nielson officiating.
