John William Byrne of Cambridge died Sept. 12, 2009, at HospiceCare in Madison with members of his family at his side. John was born April 10, 1931, in Texas City, Ill.
He was a U.S. Marine during the Korean War. His Master of Education degree allowed him to teach, coach and nurture thousands of children around the country, both in schools and on adventures in the wilderness.
He is missed deeply by his soul mate and wife, Loretta, and his brother, David, and Davidﾕs wife, Margery.
He is survived by his children, Janna, Jennifer, Andy, Randy, Juli, Laura, Tom, Michael, Maria and their loved ones.
He is further survived by his gathered children, Jonathan, Tori, Elizabeth, Sandy, Luci, Lydia, Simon, Sara, Juliette, Tristan, Jennifer, Dawn, Gianni, Jill and Karen.
Searching for him are his four-legged fuzzy faces, Rocky, Lily and Furbee.
There will be a celebration of Johnﾕs life at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, in the gymnasium of the old school on South Street in Cambridge.
