Ervin John ‘Sonny’ Schnitzler

Ervin John "Sonny" Schnitzler found eternal peace and joined his only son, Brad, on Sept. 28, 2009, after a long battle with cancer at the age of 67 years.
He is the son of the late Ervin and Dolores (nee Rossow) Schnitzler. He was born July 10, 1942 in Okauchee.
He was the loving husband of 40 years to Carol (nee Howitt). They were married Jan. 25, 1969 at the First United Methodist Church in Waukesha. He is survived by his children, Tracy (Kurt) Schreib and Mindy Ecklund, and he was the proud grandfather of Adam, Jessica, Steven and Brett Schreib; and Ashley, Quentin and Shawn Ecklund. His surviving sisters and brothers are Rosemarie Booth, Genesee, Donna O’Neil, Genesee, Judy (Roger) Gatzow, Waukesha, Edna (Dave) Hoffman, East Troy, Sandra (Robert) Buchholz, Mukwonago, Penny (Brent) Redford, Waukesha, etty Lou (Dennis) Kramer, Lake Mary, Fla., Linda (Jim) Sackett, Mukwonago, Sherry (Robert) Beaver, Watertown, Connie (Jim) Scheuren, Cornell, Mich., Pat and Scott Schnitzler, Genesee, Mark Schnitzler, Milwaukee, and brother-in-law Dave Kummrow, Waukesha. He also is survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and his canine companion "Buddy."
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bradley; sisters, Shirley (Dave) Kummrow and Diana Schnitzler; and brother, Terry Schnitzler.
Visitation will take place from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. funeral services Friday, Oct. 2, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road, Waukesha (four blocks south of Interstate 94 at highways J and JJ).
Sonny retired from the Waukesha Training Center, he loved music and played the guitar and banjo in a band.
