Christine C. Schmidt (nee Wilson), of Waukesha, passed away unexpectedly Oct. 15, 2009, at age 64.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Nielsen.

She was the beloved and loving mother of Cynthia (Gerard) Schwichtenberg, Jeffery (Kris) Schmidt and Valerie (Chris Mann) Schmidt; adoring and cherished grandma of Kaitlin, Alissa and Natalie Schwichtenberg, and Amanda and Paige Schmidt; devoted daughter and caregiver of Laura Wilson; dear sister of Linda (Eric) Peterson and MaryAnn (Ed) Pleva; and also is survived by Joan Wilson, her former husband Robert F. Schmidt, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Christine was born Jan. 24, 1945, in Oak Ridge, Tenn., and as an infant moved to Waukesha, where she lived the rest of her life. She graduated from Waukesha South High School in 1963 and then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She worked at Gallery I in Waukesha for more than 25 years. Christine enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their school activities. With a great zest for life and enjoying it to the fullest, she enjoyed motorcycle riding out West, and music and dancing. Christine was known for her "green thumb" and was an avid gardener. She enjoyed growing what ever she could. In some way, she enriched the life of everyone she met.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass Of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave., Waukesha.
