Shirley Mae Waskowiak

Shirley Mae Waskowiak, 80, of Westboro, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at the Golden Living Center, Rib Lake.

Shirley was born Nov. 23, 1928, in Wisconsin Rapids, to William M. and Irene V. (nee Denny) Rogers. She attended grade school in Stevens Point and was a 1946 graduate of PJ Jacobs High School, Stevens Point. Shirley moved to Milwaukee, where she attended the Milwaukee School of Nursing, graduating in March 1950. On Aug. 26, 1950, Shirley was married to Clarence Waskowiak at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Rib Lake. She was employed as a nurse at the Milwaukee County Hospital for one year and later at the Golden Living Center in Rib Lake for 11 years, as well as five years as a volunteer. In 1977, Shirley and Clarence moved to Westboro, where she has resided ever since. Shirley was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Waskowiak of Hudson and Patrick Waskowiak of Westboro; one daughter, Geraldine (John) Chasteen of LaValle; seven grandchildren, Jason (Teri) Evert, Laurie Evert, Robert Chasteen, Barbara Waskowiak, Sue (David) Zimmerman, Jason Schuppel and Matthew (Sharon) Waskowiak; four great-grandchildren, Brady Waskowiak, Kala Evert, Marissa Evert and Jacob Evert; and one sister, Marjorie (Clarence) Schlais of Westboro. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence, on June 29, 1980; and one sister, Mildred Waide, on May 26, 2009.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until the 7 p.m. parish prayer service Friday, Oct. 23, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Rib Lake, with Deacon Mark Priniski officiating. Visitation continues from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Saturday, Oct. 24, at the church, with the Rev. Otto Bucher officiating. Interment will be at Mount Olive Cemetery, Westboro.

Pallbearers will be Barb Waskowiak, Duane Scott, Duane Sheets, Howie Waide, Jason Evert, Jason Schuppel, Jeannie Scott, John Chasteen, Laurie Evert, Leon Ernenputsch and Robert Chasteen.
