John E. Long

John E. Long found peace Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at the age of 88.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Veronica (nee Freeland).

He was the loving longtime companion and friend of Alice Krueger; dear father of William (Lois) Long, Linda (Jeff) Puzach and Karen (Garth) Breit; and proud grandpa of Michelle (Geoff) Sander, Heather (Jeremy) Lipusch, Jeff (Maria) Puzach, Garrett Breit, Alexandra Breit, Christine Klaper, Cathy Long, Sheryl (Douglas) Harris and David Long. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

John was a proud member of the carpenters local union. He was a charter member of the Franklin Lions Club, a member of Nathan Hale Masonic Lodge and a lifetime member of the Elks Club of Cumberland, Md. He will also be remembered for the many years of participation as "Uncle Sam" in the Franklin Fourth of July parade.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, 11030 W. Forest Home Ave., Hales Corners. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Shriners Children’s Hospital or the Franklin Lions Club.
