Phyllis Loretta Erke, 101, died at her home in Bruce on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, due to natural causes. She was born in Fond du Lac on Feb. 18, 1908, a daughter of Martin and Lavina Marcoe Tates.

She was married to Henry Erke in Chicago on  Oct. 16, 1924; he preceded her in death in 1979. Phyllis was a homemaker. She moved to Bruce in 1988 and regularly attended Nathaniel Lutheran Church in Bruce.

She is survived by one daughter, Shirley Carlsen of Bruce; one son, Gary (Suzanne) of Waukesha; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Henry, Kenneth and Robert, and six brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the noon funeral services today, Sept. 1, at Nathaniel Lutheran Church in Bruce with the Rev. Larry Sturgis officiating.

Another visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the noon funeral service Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Waukesha next to her husband. For more information on local services, call 547-4035.
