Richard P. Kocher

Aug. 1, 1930 - Sept. 23, 2009

Richard Kocher of Waukesha passed away suddenly and peacefully early Wednesday morning, Sept. 23, 2009.

He is survived by his loving children, Paul, Anne, Ellen (Jim) Fleming, James, John and Peter; his beautiful grandchildren, Elisabeth, William, Anne, Grace, Mary and Hazel; his devoted brothers, Bill and Tom; and his former wife, Susan (Boehmke).

He was preceded in death by his son, David, in 2005.

Born in Milwaukee, Richard graduated from Waukesha High School. After serving in the Air Force, he began his career as a technical writer, working for more than 25 years at Waukesha Engine. Whether as "Richie" to his friends, "Uncle Richie" to his many nieces and nephews, "Grandpa Dick," "Dad" or "Mr. Kocher," he was generous with his time, knowledge and affection. A successful sailor as a young man, Richard was always an avid reader and an active outdoorsman who loved to take his family on camping and fishing trips. And his volunteer service as a coach for his children’s sports teams spanned three different decades.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Saturday, Sept. 26, in the narthex of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, at 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha.
