Olof A. ‘Ole’ Lindquist
Feb. 9, 1934 – March 27, 2010
At age 76, Olof A. "Ole" Lindquist went home to our Father in
Heaven on Saturday, March 27, 2010. He was born Feb. 9, 1934, in
Milwaukee, son of Olof and Elna Lindquist (deceased).
He was the devoted husband of 58 years to Anne E. (Molitor), also from
Milwaukee. Ole and Anne moved to the Oconomowoc area in 1961, where they
raised a loving family of five children: Karen Lindquist, Robert (Cheryl)
Lindquist, Perry (Nancy) Lindquist, Jeanne (Lamont) Strandberg and Briana
(Brian) Bednarek. He enjoyed a lifetime career as a tool and die maker and
entrepreneur as a founding partner in NorQuist Tool and Die of Oconomowoc.
Now owned and operated by his son Robert and daughter Jeanne, NorQuist is
celebrating more than 50 years of business.
Ole was a charter member of the Summit Volunteer Fire Department,
passionately serving for 40 years as a firefighter. Ole was also very
active in and a strong supporter of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in
Oconomowoc, serving on numerous boards and hosting Bible study groups in
their home for many years. All five of his children attended St. Paul’s
School and were confirmed in the Christian faith there. As an athlete, Ole
loved to play softball and was a dedicated runner since the late 1960s,
competing in numerous races, marathons and fundraisers over the decades.
Ole was a lifetime blood donor, a service that all his children continue
to support as well. His family believes his excellent physical fitness
helped him far outlast all the doctor’s predictions as he struggled with
MDS and Parkinson’s disease for the past six years of his life.
Ole is also survived by his two sisters, Amy (Rudy) Santo and Anna Groose;
eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Ole was preceded in death by his parents and brother in-law, Allen Groose.
A special thanks to the staff in the Oncology Department at Oconomowoc
Memorial Hospital and to the staff at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc
for their wonderful care.
At Ole’s request, his remains were donated to the University of
Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine Research and Study.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 1 p.m. memorial service
Saturday, April 3, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 210 E. Pleasant St.,
Oconomowoc.
Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
