Richard Arden Falk, born in Manitowoc on Jan. 5, 1933, died Saturday, April 3, 2010.
He is survived by Sara B. Falk; children, Elisabeth Ruth (Gary Smith) of Oakland, Calif., Ruth Susan of Waukesha, Melanie Arden (Charles Webster Jr.) of Pewaukee and Richard Joel (Erin) of Pewaukee; and grandchildren, Nicole, Michael, Kiefer, Sara, Maura, Julia and Rachel.
He graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School and the universities of Wisconsin and Michigan. He was the founder and CEO of the Minco Group Worldwide with locations in Hartland, Johnson City, Tenn., Longview, Texas, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, United Kingdom, Taiwan, China, Australia, Korea and Japan. The Minco Group recently celebrated 50 years of supply and service to the worldwide steel and foundry industries.
Dick Falk made major contributions to steelmaking with more than 50 patents concerning sampling and chemical analysis of molten iron and steel, and corresponding instrumentation. He was a member of many steel and foundry technical societies and club affiliations.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the 12:30 p.m. memorial service Wednesday, April 14, at Merrill Hills Country Club, W270-S3425 Merrill Hills Road, Waukesha.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Richard A. Falk Scholarship Fund, Midwest Instrument Co., P.O. Box 80, Hartland, WI 53029. The fund will award scholarships to children of Minco Group employees.
