Tamara Irene McCabe, 55, a beloved mother, sister, daughter and friend, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind. Tammy was born Sept. 11, 1955, in Muncie, Ind., to Robert Vance Cox and the late Garnet Rosalyne (Coats) Cox. Tammy attended Delta schools and graduated in 1973.

Tammy obtained a culinary certificate from Waukesha County Technical College. After returning from Wisconsin, Tammy was employed as a cashier for Ryanís; worked food prep at McDonaldís; was a cook at a local nursing home for 10 years; worked at Gastonís Hickory Creek as an aide; and most recently was employed as a cashier at Meijerís in Muncie for eight years. Tammy loved to listen to music, write poetry, go dancing with friends, read, play bingo and card games, and spend time with family. Tammy also loved ships and boats, animals, cats, and regularly contributed to Muncieís ARF.
Tammy is survived by her loving daughter, Sarah Dawn McCabe; father, Robert Vance Cox (wife Laura); four sisters, Robin Ashcraft (husband Duke), Sandra Cougill (husband Ernie), Jeaneen Reimschisel (husband Joey) and Vanessa Hartman (husband Brad); and several nieces and nephews.

Tammy was preceded in death by her mother, Garnet Rosalyne Cox; sister, Sherry Wardwell; grandparents, Leonard and Nellie Cox; and several aunts and uncles.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Saturday, Dec. 4, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Road 3, Muncie. The Rev. Troy Kausman will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to either ARF, 1209 W. Riggin Road, Muncie, IN 47303; and/or the American Cancer Society in memory of her sister, Sherry Wardwell, 1216 Meridian St., Anderson, IN 46016.
