SPRINGSTEAD
Victor Edward Schoenike
Victor E. Schoenike, 82, of Springstead, peacefully entered into eternal
life with God at his residence surrounded by his family under the care of
Flambeau Home Health Care and Hospice. He was born Nov. 21, 1928, in
Lebanon, the son of George and Dina (Zwieg) Schoenike.
He spent his early life and schooling in the Watertown area. He served his
country in the U.S. Army from January 1946 to June 1948. He married
Genevieve Brandt on March 24, 1949, in Watertown. He was employed for more
than 45 years as a cement finisher for the T.V. John and Sons Co. in Elm
Grove. On Nov. 12, 1988, he married Ruth Schauer-Wagner in Watertown. They
lived in Watertown for five years before making their home in Springstead
in 1993.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Watertown and Peace
Lutheran Church in Park Falls. He was an active member of the community
and served as a volunteer fireman for the Township of Sherman. A lifelong
sportsman, he enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing, hunting, skiing, gardening
and making maple syrup.
Victor was the loving husband of Ruth of Springstead and the caring father
of four daughters, Vickie (Steven) Stretz of Wausau, Patti (John) Dibb of
Hartland, Debra Ann Gusler-Schoenike of Boulder Junction and Patricia
(Jerry) Thrams of Concord, and one son, Guy Wagner of Watertown. He is
also survived by 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters,
Florence Holtan of Waukesha and Doris (Charles) Elliot of Waukesha; nieces
and nephews; and one sister-in-law, Darlene Schoenike.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dina Schoenike; his
first wife, Genevieve, on Sept. 28, 1984; three brothers, Edgar, Palmer
and Robert; and one sister, Irene.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service
Saturday, Dec. 11, at Peace Lutheran Church, Park Falls, with the Rev.
Dale Heinlein officiating. Visitation continues from 2 p.m. until the 5
p.m. Christian burial service Monday, Dec. 13, at Good Shepherd Lutheran
Church in Watertown, with the Rev. Dale Heinlein officiating. Inurnment
will be Tuesday, Dec. 14, at the Lutheran cemetery in Watertown.
Heindl Funeral Home of Phillips, 715-339-2313, is assisting the family
with local arrangements.
