Werner J. Schalow
Feb. 13, 1931 – Dec. 14, 2010
Werner J. Schalow, a lifelong resident of Waukesha, died Tuesday, Dec. 14,
2010, at Virginia Health & Rehabilitation Center at the age of 79.
Werner was born Feb. 13, 1931, the son of Wilhelm and Frances (Hunt)
Schalow.
He proudly served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged from the
U.S. Army Air Force. Werner was a member of the Disabled American Veteran’s
– Chapter 1 in Milwaukee, and a member of the VFW Soat Vergenz Post 721.
He worked as a technician for the Wisconsin State Highway Department.
Werner was also a longtime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Werner will be deeply missed by his wife of 49 years, Zona; his daughter,
Kathryn Schalow of Alexandria, Va.; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Russell.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, at Cesarz,
Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha.
Visitation continues from 11 a.m. until the noon funeral service Monday,
Dec. 20, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1052 Whiterock Ave.,
Waukesha. The Rev. Larry Gates will officiate. Burial with military honors
will immediately follow at Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha.
The family would like to extend a special thanks of appreciation to the
staff of the Odyssey Hospice, Waukesha Memorial Hospital and Virginia
Health & Rehabilitation Center.
