Rosetta
"Rose" M. Lukasiewicz (nee Tiradani) entered into eternal life
at home on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at the age of 89.
Rosetta was preceded in death by her parents and
beloved husband, Simon. She is survived by two sons, Ray (Ilonka) Lukas
and Robert (Gloria) Lukasiewicz; her daughter, Kathleen (Patrick) Walsh;
11 grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren; her sister, Inez; and many
relatives and friends. Rosetta was loved by all and lived a full and
wonderful life. She will be missed by everyone she touched.
Born December 22, 1920, in Bagnone, Italy, Rose
came to America on May 25, 1924, with Teresa Tiradani (her mother) and
Inez (sister) to join Ermenegildo Tiradani (her father) in Hurley. Rose
lived in Hurley, graduating from Hurley High School at the age of 17. A
few years later, she moved to Shorewood to attend beauty school.
In 1943, she married Simon Lukasiewicz at St. Rose
Catholic Church. Simon and Rosetta built a home on the northwest side of
Milwaukee, where she lived for 41 years. Through the early years, Rose was
a cook at Mother of Good Counsel School and den mother for her boys. Rose
later became a member of Christ King parish and worked as a store manager
for Grebe’s Bakery. After her husband’s death in 1981, Rose remained
in her own home for nine years until moving to New Berlin. Rose became a
member of Holy Apostles Church where she continued to live her Catholic
faith as a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Christian Women and
volunteer at the Friday fish fry. Her passions were cooking, playing cards
and going on casino jaunts with family and friends.
A celebration of Rose’s life will be held from 5
p.m. until 7 p.m. today, Dec. 21, ending with a prayer service at Church
and Chapel Funeral Home, 15250 W. National Ave, New Berlin. A visitation
at Holy Apostles Church, 16000 W. National Ave., New Berlin, will take
place from 11 a.m. until noon on Wednesday, Dec. 22, followed by a
memorial Mass. Burial is private.
