Helen E. Bennett of Waukesha died Tuesday, Dec.
28, 2010, at the Virginia Health & Rehabilitation Center at the age of
96. She was born in West Allis on Feb. 21, 1914, the daughter of Emil and
Emma (nee Riemold) Glitz.
She was a graduate of West Allis High School. On
April 23, 1938, she married James Bennett. He preceded her in death in
1970. She and her husband owned and operated the Horseshoe Tap on Martin
Street in Waukesha during the 1950s and 1960s.
She will be sadly missed by her sons, Gerald
Bennett of Waukesha and Bruce (Cheryl) Bennett of Oregon; her
grandchildren, Victoria Tillitson of Portland, Jeffery Bennett of
Portland, Jason Bennett of Portland, Joseph Bennett of Portland, Lynn
Heaney of Crandon, Robert Hutchinson of Waukesha and Lori Anne Bennett of
West Allis; and great-grandchildren, Christina, Michael, Nathaniel, Katlyn,
Daniel, Nicholas and Max. She is also survived by her sisters, May Hockett
of Waukesha and Evelyn Shuff of Delafield, other relatives and many
friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James,
in 1970; her siblings, Arthur Glitz, Edwin Glitz, Roy Glitz, Ruth Sengpiel
and Robert Glitz; and her daughter-in-law, Elaine Bennett, in 2008.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Monday, Jan. 3, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave.,
Waukesha. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, New Berlin.
If desired, memorials may be made to the charity
of the donor’s choice.
