The Rev. Robert S. Wilch
The Rev. Robert S. Wilch, age 86, of Hartland, passed away on Friday Jan. 29 2010. He was the beloved husband of Sandra (nee Quay); beloved father of Janet Feldman (Joe), Jim, Tory Houriet (Kathy), Diane Houriet, Mary Miller, and Stephen Houriet; the beloved grandfather of Grace, Jackie, Henry, Griffin, Cassie, Franey, Caleb, Alice, and Grant.
Bob also was the beloved brother of Jim (Nadine) and the late Dennis and the beloved son of the late Cora and Sam Wilch. He was an avid Packers and Cubs fan and is also survived by a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Bob served his country proudly as a lieutenant junior grade in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS McDermut during the Pacific Theater of World War II. He was the retired bishop of the Upper Michigan/Wisconsin Synod, and led congregations in Seattle, Wash. and Janesville, and was interim minister of First Congregational Church in Wauwatosa and a chaplain at Congregational Home in Brookfield. He was a former board member of Carthage College in Kenosha, St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee, Suomi College in Hancock, Mich., and a 40-plus-year member of the Blue Mound Country Club.
Visitation was held on Monday, Feb. 1, 2010. A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. today, Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at First Congregational Church in Wauwatosa. Family will greet guests immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Second Harvest Food Bank (Milwaukee), St. Luke’s Hospital (Milwaukee), Carthage College (Kenosha), First Congregational Church (Wauwatosa) or a charity of your choice.
