Barbara Ann ‘Barb’ Schenk

Barbara Ann "Barb" Schenk of North Prairie passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at the age of 66 years.

Barbara was born Oct. 6, 1943, the daughter of Wilfred and Eloise Bissett. She met the love of her life, Richard, and they were joined in marriage Oct. 20, 1962. Barbara started at Waukesha Memorial Hospital in 1968, where she loved her job and worked her way from administrative assistant to the president of Waukesha Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1989. She was a supreme Bethel honored queen in Job’s Daughters. Barb enjoyed and was very skillful at making her own clothing, which her mother-in-law taught her. Making wedding/graduation and special occasion cakes for family and friends was a passion; when at home, Barb and Dick loved their flower garden.

Barbara will be dearly missed by her husband, Richard; sister, Kay (Jeffrey) Stemper; nephew, Ryan Stemper; sister-inlaw, Alice Bissett; and niece, Kristin Bissett. Barb is further survived by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Bissett; sister-in-law Judy Novak; and her in-laws, Richard and Lorraine Schenk.

The memorial service for Barbara will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at North Prairie United Methodist Church, 107 N. Main St. North Prairie. The family will receive guests from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service. A private inurnment will take place at a later date at North Prairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the church (please see address above).
