Bruno Cappozzo
May 24, 1923 – Feb. 1, 2010
Bruno Cappozzo of Waukesha died Monday, Feb. 1,
2010, at the age of 86 years.
He was born May 24, 1923, the son of Frank and
Paula (nee Tagliapietra) Cappozzo. Bruno was united in marriage to the
love of his life, the late Josephine "Jo" Vitale on Sept. 2,
1946. He was a charter member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Waukesha. Bruno
was involved with the Knights of Columbus, Council #1825. He proudly
served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War
II. In 1948, Bruno started working as a deputy sheriff for the Waukesha
County Sheriff’s Department. Upon his retirement after 30 years of
service, Bruno proudly wore badge #1 as senior deputy. His greatest joy
was spending time with his family.
Bruno will be dearly missed by his daughter, Joan
(Mike) Hackbarth of Stoddard; son, Tony (Valerie) Cappozzo of Sun Prairie;
grandchildren, Joseph (Heidi) Hackbarth, Anne (Jim) Karedes, David (Katie)
Cappozzo, Katie (Chris) Barmann and Daniel (Becky Ronconi) Cappozzo; eight
great-grandchildren, Andrew, Nicholas, Jacob, Cooper, Maxwell, Abigail,
Ryan and Sophia Josephine; sister, Ida (Harry) Collins of Campbell,
Calif.; and sisterin-law, Janina Cappozzo. Bruno is further survived by
many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in
death by his wife, Josephine; parents; brothers, Frank and Robert; and
sister Rita Cappozzo.
The visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:30
a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, 225 S.
Hartwell Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186. Burial with military honors will
immediately follow the Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Waukesha. In
lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Waukesha Memorial
Hospital Foundation, 725 American Ave., Waukesha, WI 53188 or to the
Alzheimer’s Association, 6130 W. National Ave., Suite 200, West Allis,
WI 53214.
