WAUKESHA

Roberta Jean (Brown) Duckett

Sept. 24, 1927 – Feb. 8, 2010

Roberta Jean (Brown) Duckett of Waukesha died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at AngelsGrace Hospice due to complications from cancer, with her family at her side.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Kathy (Mike) Wilson, and her sons, Mike (Jill) Duckett and Steve Duckett. Bert was the proud grandmother to seven grandchildren, Lori Seibel, Bryan Merlet, Megan Duckett, Luke Duckett, Brooke Duckett, Teagan Duckett and Haley Duckett; and great-grandmother of four, Logan Seibel, Collin Seibel, McKenna Merlet and Alyssa Merlet. She is further survived by many dear friends.

Bert was a lifelong resident of Waukesha, having lived her entire life within a six-block radius on the city’s south side. Bert was a proud, hard-working and longtime member of both the Waukesha Service Club and the Waukesha Ideal Club. She had the opportunity to serve as president of both charitable organizations during her volunteer career.

Bert’s journey will now allow her to be reunited with the “love of her life,” her husband, Bob, who preceded her in death. Bert and Bob met at Carroll College in early 1947 and were married later that same year. Bert proved to be Bob’s greatest “fan,” never missing a basketball game that he played in or coached.

Bert loved music and was especially happy to be leading a group in singing. In her memory, please remember to always keep a smile on your face and a song in your heart.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at Merrill Hills Country Club, W270-S3425 Merrill Hills Road in Waukesha. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. that day, also at Merrill Hills Country Club.

In Bert’s memory, memorials to the Waukesha Service Club, 1444 S. West Ave., Waukesha, WI 53189, would be appreciated.

Church and Chapel Rudolph-Larsen Bros. Funeral Home is serving the family. For more information, call 549-0659 or visit www.churchandchapel.com to view the online obituary, offer condolences or receive directions.
