Donald E. Vincent

March 14, 1926 – Feb. 8, 2010

Donald E. Vincent of Waukesha passed away Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc at the age of 83. He was born in Carthage, S.D., on March 14, 1926, one of 10 children to the late Charles E. and Minnie Pearl (Clark) Vincent.

A World War II veteran, Don proudly served in the U.S. Army Infantry in the European theater. He retired as a sergeant from the Waukesha Police Department in 1977. After retirement, he worked part time as a salesman for Security Aluminum. Don also served as an alderman in Waukesha in the 1970s. Among his favorite past times were fishing at his son’s cabin in Elcho, spending time in Scottsdale, Ariz., with his daughter’s family and caretaking his granddogs for Cynthia and Bob.

Don will be sadly missed by his children, Michael (Donna) Vincent of Wales, Cynthia (Earl “Bob”) Deatrick of Waukesha and Lynn (John) Staub of Scottsdale; his four grandchildren, Christine, Eric (Kari), Jennelle Marie and Jaclyn Christine; and two great-grandsons, Nolan and Brady. He also leaves his brothers, Ronald (Sue) Vincent of Waukesha, Morlin (Kathy) Vincent of Texas and Kenneth Vincent of Waukesha; and his sisters, Virginia Conway of Waukesha and Shirley (Gerald) Peterson of Texas.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Harriet, on Feb. 26, 2005.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. A second visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. service Friday, Feb. 12, at the funeral home. Burial at Summit Cemetery will immediately follow.
