Edeltraut S. ‘Edye’ Zeilhofer
July 21, 1928 – Feb. 17, 2010
Edeltraut S. "Edye" Zeilhofer of Waukesha died Wednesday, Feb.
17, 2010, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 81. She was born
July 21, 1928, in Roettebor, Germany, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth
(Brown) Steinhoff.
Edye was united in marriage to John Zeilhofer on Oct. 11, 1952; he
preceded her in death July 27, 2007. In her earlier years, she was a
highly noted field hockey player in southern Germany. After coming to the
U.S., she became a real estate broker at Rite Reality Co. until retiring
in 1975. During her retirement, she and her husband resided in Sarasota,
Fla., for 14 years before returning to Waukesha. She was a member of St.
Mary’s Catholic Church.
Edye will be deeply missed by her children, Rudy (JoAnn) Zeilhofer of
Waukesha and Jerry (Linda) Zeilhofer of Fountain Hills, Ariz.;
grandchildren, Matt, Robb, Luke, Chrissy and Paul; her sister, Rosel (Willi)
Schiebel of Freising, Germany; and sister-in-law, Katja Steinhoff of
Munich, Germany.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother,
Siegfried Steinhoff; and her parents.
Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. until the 5:30 p.m. memorial
service Monday, Feb. 22, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave.,
Waukesha. The Very Rev. James T. Volkert will preside. After the service,
visiting will continue until 7 p.m. Her final resting place will be in
Hangenham, Germany.
