Ellner E. Detke

June 27, 1918 - Jan. 4, 2010

Ellner Detke fell asleep in the arms of Jesus on Monday, Jan. 4, 2010 at LindenGrove, Waukesha, with her daughter, Dorothy at her side.

She was born June 27, 1918, to the late Henry and Cora (Bornemann) Treichel. Growing up she attended Morrison Zion Lutheran School, where she walked four miles to and from each day.

After graduating from the eighth grade, she worked on the family farm until she met her husband, William Detke, and married him June 12, 1937, then moved to Milwaukee. When her oldest daughter was 3 years old, they moved back to the family farm, where she then completed her family with another daughter and a son. She continued to live on the family farm until she was 86 years old.

Ellner was a member of Morrison Zion Lutheran Church, a member of the Ladies Aid, the choir and the Morrison Homemakers Club. Ellner, as a teen, loved playing the guitar. She left the farm and moved to Brookfield Regency to be closer to her daughter, where she lived for three years until moving to LindenGrove to enjoy the rest of her days with people she met there and grew to love and think of them as her extended family. Ellnerís favorite activities were playing "Shut the Box", Bingo, singing in the choir, helping clean the bird cages and sitting and conversing with her dear friends, Winnie, Ellenor and Louise.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Dorothy (Fred) Hrenak; her grandchildren, Mike (Sarresa) Hrenak, Michele Hrenak, Matt (Leighann) Hrenak, Kim (TeJay) McGowan, Mark Hrenak, Jenny Hockstock, and 14 great-grandchildren, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William; daughter, Donna, and son-in-law, Alfred Hockstock; son, David; grandson, Ronald; and sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Len Menne.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, January 11, 2010, at Zion Lutheran Church, 7395 County Road W, Morrison. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. at the church, with the Rev. Randy Ott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Words cannot express our gratitude to Seasonís Hospice and the wonderful staff at LindenGrove for all the loving care extended to Ellner. Mom, I will always love you and miss your beautiful smile.
