Carl E. Mercier was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at age 89.

Carl served on the USS Bordelon in World War II. He enjoyed sailing, had a passion for electrical engineering and was very active in his parish.

He was beloved husband of Ellen (nee Gifford) for 62 years; devoted father of Mary (Alex) Hancock, Margaret Mercier, Carljon (Kathy) and Joseph (Mellanie); loving grandpa of Angela (D'Angelo) Sinclair, Carl, Christopher and Daniel, Andrew, Jennifer and Jonathan; great-grandpa of Devon Sinclair; and brother of Robert (the late Barbara) and the late Elmer Jr. He is also loved by other relatives and friends.

Visitation at will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Saturday, Jan. 23, at Gesu Catholic Church, 1145 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee. Burial to follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
