Charles ‘Charlie’ Siewert

March 5, 1954 – Jan. 22, 2010

Charles “Charlie” William Siewert 55 of Delafield formerly of Wausau, received his plane ticket to heaven Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at AngelsGrace Hospice, Oconomowoc after his 14-year battle with multiple sclerosis. He is the “Charlie” of Charlie’s MS Angels bike team.

Charlie was born March 5, 1954, in Wausau, the second of three boys to Leslie and Virginia “Pete” (nee Petrowski) Siewert.

Charlie was a 1973 graduate of Newman High School, Wausau. He owned and operated City Bike Works in Wausau with his brother, Roger, before attending the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1981 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, and received his master’s in business administration in 2001.

Charlie met Wausau girl Peggy Matakovich for the first time while they were working in California. Peggy and Charlie were married in 1985 in Wausau.

Charlie was employed with Menasha Corp. in California and Wisconsin. He served as a village trustee in Lake Zurich, Ill., from 1989 to 1991.

Charlie was a true Green Bay Packers fan. He enjoyed going to their games and watched the Packers play up to the last game of this season. He loved watching his sons play hockey. He enjoyed all sports and for many years participated in “Al’s Run.” He loved being up north at the cabin and boating. Cars were his passion and enjoyed keeping them spotless.

He is survived by his wonderful wife, Peggy; sons, John and Elliott, all of Delafield; parents, Les and Pete Siewert of Wausau; brothers, Roger Siewert of Eugene, Ore., and James (Shelly) Siewert of Stillwater, Minn.; sisters- and brothers-in-law, Cathy (Mike) Emerson and Mike Matakovich, all of Wausau, and Amy (Mike) Milz of Eau Claire; nephews, Charlie (Amber) Emerson and Andy Emerson, both of Wausau; nieces, Abby and Emily Milz of Eau Claire; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Wallace “Wally” and Martha Petrowski, and father- and mother-in-law, John and Joyce Matakovich.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until the 6 p.m. Mass today Jan. 26, at St. Anthony on the Lake, town of Delafield. There will be a prayer service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, Wausau.
