Florinda Hernandez, 79, of Waukesha, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, July 1, 2010, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Dec. 30, 1930, in Crystal City, Texas, to Celestino and Anita (nee Sepulveda) Rodriguez. On Oct. 1, 1951, she was married to the late Luis R. Hernandez, who preceded her in death in September 2004. She now joins him in eternal peace.

She is the cherished mother of Julia Hernandez, Luis (Cathy) Hernandez, Rosalva Cruz, Hector (Sandy) Hernandez, Henry (Paula) Hernandez, Yolanda Hernandez, Anita (Bryan) Higgins, Armando (Rocksand) Hernandez and Cesar (Heidi) Hernandez. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Amalia (Zachary) Covell, Andria Hernandez, Luis "Gabriel" and Rudy Javier Cruz, Sarah, Olivia and Jesse Hernandez, Eliana and Alesandra Hernandez, and Emanuel and Isaiah Hernandez; brothers and sisters, Trinidad (Margarito) Castillo, Celestino (late Noemi) Rodriguez, Carmela (Oscar) Surita, Hector Rodriguez and Nelda (Jose) Torres; and brotherin-law, Gerardo Saldaña. She was preceded in death by her sister Oralia Saldaña. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Florinda retired from the Waukesha Rubber Co., and also was employed at Amron Corp. For the last five years, she thoroughly enjoyed helping out at her son’s company, Urethane Systems Plus, Inc. Mom was the quiet strength of the family. She found joy in her grandchildren and dancing with her husband. She loved being there for others. Florinda was a proud member of the Scholastic Fund for Students of Hispanic Descent and a devoted member of Apostolic Life Church. She will be remembered for freely giving love and care to all those who were a part of her life. Mom will be greatly missed.

A memorial visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until the 6 p.m. funeral service Wednesday, July 7, at at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 W. Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha. Private inurnment will be at Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha.
