Brett P. Netke
Aug. 23, 1967 – June 20, 2010
Brett P. Netke, 42, of Waukesha, passed
away Sunday, June 20, 2010, in Summit, from injuries sustained in a
cycling accident. He was born Aug. 23, 1967, in Livonia, to Edward Netke
and Jane (Martini) Bingham. He was married April 10, 1996, to Darlene
Barns and she survives him.
Brett was a global procurement director for Johnson Controls in Milwaukee.
He was a graduate of Northville High School in Michigan and a graduate of
Michigan State University in 1990. Brett loved all sports. He ran track
for Michigan State University. Brett started bicycling after he injured
himself running.
In addition to his wife, Darlene, he is survived by three children, Tyler
(age 7), Alyssa (age 5) and Gabrielle (age 3); his father and stepmother,
Edward (Sharon) Netke of Northville, Mich.; mother and stepfather, Jane
(Sheldon) Bingham of North Fort Myers, Fla.; father-in-law and mother-inlaw,
Wes (Linda) Barns of Hillsdale, Mich.; sister, Rachel (Nate) Bishop of
Holland, Mich.; sister-in-law, Jene (John) Brehm of Waldron, Mich.;
brother-in-law, Wesley Barns Jr. of Reading, Mich.; aunt, Barbara Netke of
Waterford, Mich.; and a niece, Katlyn Brehm.
A memorial service for Brett Netke will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July
10, at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Waukesha with the Rev. Charles
Papenfuss officiating.
A college fund for the Netke children has been established by Johnson
Controls Inc. It has been named Brett’s Echelon and is being
administered by Duane Weber. Any memorial contributions will be sent to
him for this fund.
