Hobert George Wilkinson
Hobert George Wilkinson went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 29,
2010, at the age of 85.
Hobert was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes Laing Bahr and George
Wilkinson; his daughter, Jean Marilyn; and his grandchildren, Courtney Ann
and Micah James.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Mary Beth Wilkinson
(nee Bartlett); his children, Ruth Mary Stewart (Richard) of Phoenix,
Albert Levi Wilkinson (Kamille) of Waukesha, Helen Agnes Barborich (Scott)
of West Allis, Walter Robert Wilkinson (Ammie) of West Allis, Susan Kay
Wilkinson of Waukesha, Lynn Hobert Wilkinson (Karol) of Hartland and Harry
Bartlett Wilkinson (Annette) of Waukesha; six grandchildren; and eight
great-grandchildren.
Hobert moved to Milwaukee in 1942 to join the U.S. Navy and served in the
South Pacific until February 1946. He spent time in Mapleton and Hartland
working on a farm. In 1948, he rejoined the U.S. Navy, visiting ports of
call that included San Diego, Long Beach, San Francisco, Bremerton,
Washington and Pearl Harbor, various islands in the south Pacific and has
been around the world twice. He met a green-eyed gal while home on leave
in 1949 and won her heart on a hunting trip. They were married Oct. 21,
1950. Hobert kept his battery charged by working as an electrician in the
Navy, five years at the Byron Nuclear Power Plant and 31 years with
Electrical Construction 494 out of Milwaukee. Hobert retired to Ash Flat,
Ark., in 1992, but returned to his home state of Wisconsin in 2006.
He will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
Visitation will beheld from 4 p.m. until the 6 p.m. memorial service
Thursday, July 15, at Evert-Luko Funeral Home, 170 Warren Ave., Hartland.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Hobert
Wilkinson’s name to the Merton Fire Department or AMVETS.
