Walter R. ‘Wally’ Diekfuss
Aug. 24, 1927 – July 7, 2010
Dr.
Walter R. "Wally" Diekfuss, 82, of Boyd, a doctor of
chiropractic, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Wissota Health in Chippewa
Falls.
He was born Aug. 24, 1927, in Indianapolis, to Helen (Mallon) and Dr.
Walter C. Diekfuss, also a doctor of chiropractic.
Wally entered the U.S. Army and served honorably during World War II.
He married Jayne Peterson on Feb. 17, 1990.
He worked most of his life as a self-employed chiropractor, taking over
his father’s business in Waukesha. In addition to that, he also had many
other occupations that he enjoyed, such as working as groundskeeper for
the Potawatomi Girl Scout Camp in East Troy for many years, building solar
homes and driving truck. He retired in 1990. He and his wife, Jayne, moved
from Arkansas to Boyd in 1999, where they have resided since that time.
Wally was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling and horse training. He
especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife, Jayne of Boyd; six daughters, Debbie (Rick)
Webb of Georgia, Doreen Burton of Cottage Grove, Denise (Larry) Boyer of
Kansas, Dawn (Tom) Olson of Cottage Grove, Danielle (Tom) Schultz of Fort
Atkinson and Jennifer Diekfuss of La Crosse; two sons, Doug (Barb)
Diekfuss of Wautoma and Jason (Lisa) Diekfuss of Stanley; a sister, Janice
of Waukesha; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his former wife, Ursula Diekfuss;
a brother, Kenny Diekfuss; and a daughter, Diane Stokes, in April 2010.
A celebration of Wally's life will be held at a later date.
