Eldora A. ‘Elly’ Parry
 

Eldora A. "Elly" Parry, lifelong resident of Waukesha County, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the age of 84. She was born in the town of Lisbon, the third of four daughters of Hugo and Martha (Steffen) Siewert.

She was a 1943 graduate of Waukesha High School and attended Carroll College, where she was a member of Kappa Gamma Phi, Sigma Tan Delta and Sigma Epsilon Sigma. She married Willard W. Parry, who preceded her in death in Waukesha on Dec. 4, 1946, and in 1955 they built a home on a piece of land on the Parry family farm. Together they raised three children, Jeanne (Timothy) Stien of Rockton, Ill., Jill (Michael) Woodford of Hartland and James (Karla) Parry of Hartland.

Mrs. Parry was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ of Hartland, the Hartland Women’s Club, the Republican Women of Waukesha County and a life member and past president of the Flanagan-Dorn Post #294 American Legion Auxiliary. She was a bookkeeper for many years and retired from Sindic Olds in 1984.

Elly enjoyed traveling with her family and was most proud of having visited all 50 of the United States. She loved to golf and played in many area leagues through the years. She enjoyed playing cards with many of her college and Lake Country friends.

In addition to her children, Elly is survived by four grandchildren, Randal (Amy) Stien, Lynn (Brian) Thurman, Dan Parry and Steve Parry, as well as four great-grandchildren, Jadyn and Dylan Stien and Myles and Cadence Thurman. She is further survived by her sisters-in-law, Jane Parry and Patricia (Vic) Gustafson, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many longtime friends.

In addition to her husband, Will, she was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Sonya Siewert, Olive Harvey and Shirley Redford.

Many thanks to the employees at Waukesha Memorial Hospital and Seasons Hospice and the caregivers at LindenGrove-Waukesha who helped make Elly’s last days comfortable and peaceful.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the 6 p.m. memorial service Wednesday, July 21, at Evert-Luko Funeral Home, 170 Warren Ave., Hartland, followed by a celebration of Elly’s life at the Flanagan-Dorn American Legion Post.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First Congregational Church or Carroll University.
