Arnold Gapinski of Dousman died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc at the age of 91. He was born Sept. 10, 1918, in Milwaukee, the son of Frank and Anna (Makowski) Gapinski. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Fruit on June 29, 1941; she preceded him in death in 1992. Arnold was employed as a truck driver for many years, and was a proud member of the Teamsters. After retiring, he enjoyed working for the next 25 years at Lurvey Sod Farm in Dousman. With a love of raising quarter horses, Arnold was a former member of the Walworth County Boots and Saddle Club.
Arnold will be deeply missed by his children, Gerald (Rebecca) Gapinski of Dousman, Lynn DeHaven of Mississippi, and Frank (Nicole) Gapinski of Palmyra; grandchildren, Michael Gapinski, Jeffrey Burdick, Shellie Moses, Teresa Powell, Jason Gapinski, and Carrick Gapinski; great-grandchildren, Donovan Gapinski, Dillon and Austin Moses, Dawson and Hannah Powell; and his sister, Delores Tomaszewski of Greenfield. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, John; sister, Eugenia Haydock; brother, Al Gapinski; and his parents.
Visitation will be
held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2010, at Jerusalem Presbyterian
Church, 207 Main St., Wales. Visitation continues at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June
8, 2010, until the 11 a.m. funeral service at the church. The Rev. William
Patterson will preside. Burial will follow at Ottawa Cemetery in Dousman.
