Louie Fraley, 98, of the Dousman/Palmyra area, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at his residence. He was born Feb. 25, 1912, in Thayer, Mo., the oldest of nine children, to Fred and Anna Fraley.
In the 1930s, Louie was a part of the CCC Camp (Civilian Conservation Corps) and did harvesting out west. He came to Wisconsin after that and settled in the Palmyra area where he met Elizabeth "Beth" (nee Handford). After their marriage in 1941, they settled on Beth’s family homestead where they farmed with family members, including their son.
Louie will be missed by his children, Betty (Al) Kienast, George (Dorothy) Fraley, Ruth Fraley, Diane (Jeff) Kircher and Dan (Denise) Fraley; grandchildren, Amylynn (Don), Wendy (Jason), Karen (Shannon), Kevin, Kristen (Paul), James and Heather; and stepgrandson, Derek. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Louie was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Beth, in 1998; two infant children; and a granddaughter, Dawn.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the noon service Saturday, June 19, at Mealy’s Funeral Home, 320 W. Main St., Palmyra.
