Barbara Constance Ballmann

Barbara Ballmann of Waukesha died
peacefully Saturday, June 26, 2010, at AngelsGrace Hospice at the age of
57. She was born Jan. 6, 1953, to Lacey and Richard Ballmann in Waukesha,
where she grew up and attended Waukesha South High School. She received
her Bachelor of Arts degree in music and the humanities from Transylvania
University in Lexington, Ky., and her Master of Science degree in library
science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She started her career
as a music teacher in Gainesville, Texas, then taught for many years at
Whittier Elementary, where she was loved by her "smallmentees"
and her fellow teachers. Through the years, she volunteered time, service
and gifts to many civic organizations, including the Friends of the
Library and the Humane Animal Welfare Society. Barbara will be remembered
for her quiet integrity, loving generosity, her sincerity, and her loyalty
and devotion to family and friends. She was known for her caring and
sensitive nature and her great love for music, books, the cottage "up
north" and animals.
She will be deeply missed by her loving mother, Lacey Tandy Ballmann of
Waukesha; her three sisters who cherished her, Betsy and Peggy Ballmann
and Missy McFarlane, all of Waukesha; her precious niece, Amanda McFarlane;
great-niece, Kierra, and great-nephew, Dominick of West Allis; her dear
aunt, Constance Chambers and family of Tulsa, Okla.; and her dear friend,
Peggy Richardson of Denton, Texas.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved father, Richard Ballmann, and
her devoted aunt, Ruth Tandy.
A memorial service to celebrate Barb’s life will be held at 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, June 30, at First Presbyterian Church, 810 N. East Ave.,
Waukesha. The Rev. Dee Talley will preside. A reception and fellowship
will follow the service at the church.
