Jeanette L.
Jensen of Waukesha died Saturday,
March 6, 2010, at her home at Oak Hill Terrace at the age of 89. She was
born Oct. 14, 1920, in Saxeville, the
daughter of George and Ida Jensen.
Following
her graduation from Waukesha High School, Jeannette worked in several
bakeries in Waukesha and became known for her beautiful cakes and tasty
desserts. She later worked for Sears for more than 30 years, retiring in
1986. During her retirement, Jeanette volunteered for the Salvation Army
in Waukesha and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, as well as serving
her community as a poll worker. She was also very active in senior
activity programs through the Waukesha Parks, Recreation and Forestry
Department. Jeanette was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s Lutheran
Church. She enjoyed her card club and loved swimming, taking walks and
having picnics.
Jeanette
will be deeply missed by her son-in-law, David (Robyn Allen) Meyers of
Waukesha; granddaughter, Beth (Mark) Zimmermann of Waukesha;
great-grandsons, Matthew and Zachary Fifield; sister-in-law, Gretchen
Jensen; beloved nieces and nephew: Judy, Chris, Sue, Sally and David;
all her relatives in Denmark; her special friend for more than 50 years,
Gene Heidenreich; lifelong friend, Vera Romblom; and many other friends.
She
was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Meyers; granddaughter,
Monica Meyers; brothers, Roland and Dewey Jensen; nephew, Jack Jensen;
and her parents.
A
celebration of Jeanette’s life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March
13, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll St., Waukesha. There will
be refreshments and fellowship immediately following the service at the
church. Private interment will take place at Prairie Home Cemetery.
In
lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorial donations in Jeanette’s
name are appreciated to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church (address above).
The
