Donald F. ‘Don’ McQuade ‘Bones’

April 18, 1925 – March 22, 2010

Donald F. "Don" "Bones" McQuade of Waukesha died Monday, March 22, 2010, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 84. Don was born April 18, 1925, the son of Raymond and Maude McQuade.

On June 26 1949 he married the love of his life, Dorothy Whipple, with whom he enjoyed more than 60 years of marriage. Don graduated from Janesville High School and from the Milwaukee School of Engineering with a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked for the State of Wisconsin traffic section for more than 27 years as a DOT supervisor. Don proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a decorated veteran. An active member of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post No. 721, Don served as chaplain for 12 years and also as a former commander. He was a chaplain for the Military Order of the Cootie for four years and was a past seam squirrel. Bones was an avid bowler for more than 40 years and also enjoyed golfing and gardening. His greatest joy in life was his family.

Don will be dearly missed by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Jeff (Cynthia), Steve (Linda) and Kevin (Kim) McQuade; daughter, Melodie (Mike) Sajdowitz; grandchildren, Robert, Christie, Patrick, Jennifer, Adam, Brad, Katrina and Keith; 11 great-grandchildren; nephew, Myron Bennett Jr.; and dear friends, Don and Mary Mae Cornwell.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Betty Lou and Pat Bennett; and a brother, Raymond McQuade Jr.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the 6:45 p.m. Soat-Vergenz Post No. 721 Veterans Of Foreign Wars memorial service Thursday, March 25, at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. A second visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. funeral service Friday, March 26, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joe Medina officiating. Burial with full military honors will immediately follow the service at Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha.
