Anna Clare Strohm

Anna Clare Strohm (nee Crombie), 89, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 2, 2010, at home in Waunakee.

Clare was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1920. She was the last remaining of the eight children born to Thomas and Marguerite Crombie. She was married to Leslie H. Strohm, her true love, in 1941.

Their wonderful life together included five children, Les Jr. (Merry) of Waukesha, Tom (Julie) of Madison, Meg (John) Thomas of Gainesville, Fla., Beth (Don) Hornung of Waunakee and Bill (Jocelyn) of Rockford, Ill. "Grammy" was very proud of her 10 grandchildren, Brian (Marianna) Strohm, Brad (Cece) Strohm, Jenni (Todd) Green, Chris (Joey) Strohm, Erin, Clare and Devin Thomas, Justin Strohm, Jessica and Rachel Hornung; and her six great-grandchildren, Hailey, Sammy, Maddie, Kenzie, Dylan and Kayley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Les; sons, Bill and Les; parents; sisters, Rose and Peggy; and brothers, Thomas, Chuck, Carlin, Dick and Bob.

Grammyís greatest treasure was her family. All who knew her loved her. Her loving and selfless spirit, her faith, grace and sense of humor was a gift to us until the end!

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Friday, May 7, at St. Peterís Catholic Church, 5001 Sherman Ave., Madison. The Rev. Roger Nilles will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Rockford, Ill.
