Ella M. Sormrud, 92, of Oconomowoc, passed away Monday, May 3, 2010, at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc.

She was the beloved wife of the late Morlan Sormrud; cherished mother of Wayne (Elizabeth) Sormrud of Jefferson and Sandra (Fred) Alvarado of Sullivan; loving grandmother of four grandchildren, Kris (Tom) Lowerre of Hawaii, Kent (Sharon) Sormrud of Chetek, Lisa Alvarado of West Allis and Lori (Tom) Whittier of Minneapolis, Minn.; two great-grandchildren, Jack and Nathan Whittier; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Dimitroff of Dousman and Nancy McKnight of Lengby, Minn.; loving grandmother of four grandchildren, Anita, Nancy, Toni and Virgil and four great-grandchildren, Elyse, Craig, Josh and Jessica; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ella was preceded in death by an infant son, Herbert Kent Sormrud.

Ella was born July 22, 1917, in Hillsboro. She married Morlan Sormrud on Feb. 6, 1940. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ for more than 50 years. She was a member of Eastern Star. Ella retired from the meat department of Farmer’s Exchange in Oconomowoc.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the noon funeral service Friday, May 7, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 815 S. Concord Road, Oconomowoc. Burial will be Saturday, May 8, at Mount Vernon Cemetery in Hillsboro, with a graveside service at 11 a.m.

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at AngelsGrace Hospice for the wonderful care they provided for Ella.
