Winifred ‘Winnie’ Lucille Clark

March 24, 1917 – May 8, 2010

Winifred "Winnie" Lucille Clark, 93, died Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Willow Manor Retirement Home in Dania Beach, Fla. Winnie was born March 24, 1917, in Linden, Iowa, to Francis and Alzina Mae (nee Bell) Westbrook.

She was married to Roland (Mike) Clark on June 12, 1937, in Rockford, Ill.

Winnie, Mike and son, Ron, moved to Wisconsin and began farming in the early ’40s near North Prairie. In the late ’50s, she worked at the Waukesha Motor Company in Waukesha. In 1967, Winnie transferred to a division of that company in Southern California. Later, she was employed by Pacific Pumps. After her retirement in 1980, she resided near Twentynine Palms, Calif., until she moved to South Florida in 2005.

Winnie ("Winnie the Pooh," as she was known to some) loved traveling across all of the 48 continental states in her "mini" motor home, seeing the sights, visiting friends and relatives and making wonderful memories along the way. She also enjoyed music and dancing. Winnie’s love of life and her smile were contagious – two-stepping into the hearts of everyone she met.

Survivors include her son, Ronald (Elizabeth) Clark of Buena Park, Calif.; her daughter, Joyce (David) Fischer of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two sisters, Shirley Benskin of Des Moines, Iowa, and Betty (Ken) Sayler of Colfax, Iowa; five granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mike; her brother, Donald Westbrook; and her sister, Dorothy Erickson.

Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 13, followed by the funeral service at the Desert Congregational Church in Twentynine Palms, Calif. Interment will follow at the Twentynine Palms Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in Winnie’s name to Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund, 4220 NW 33rd Ave., Suite 100, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309; or to Desert Congregational Church Building Fund. Memories of Winnie may be sent to www.wiefels.com.
