Catherine R. Rausch
Feb. 13, 1916 – May 9, 2010
Catherine R. Rausch, 94, of Osseo, passed away
Sunday, May 9, 2010.
She was born Feb. 13, 1916, in New Berlin, the
daughter of the late William and Agnes (nee Meade) Loomis. Catherine was
married to Lowell J. Rausch Sr. on June 21, 1941, at Holy Apostles
Catholic Church in New Berlin. She had a dairy farm with her husband,
Lowell, buying the farm in 1946. She lived near Dousman in the town of
Ottawa throughout most of her retirement. Catherine was a loyal member of
St. Bruno’s Catholic Church of Dousman. She enjoyed cooking both for
Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital, where she was head cook for 38 years, and
her family. She was an avid gardener, preparing dishes from her own garden
produce for herself and others. She had boundless energy and would be the
spark on many projects.
Catherine was very proud that she was able to
visit her ancestral home of Ireland in retirement and the Loomis Chaffey
School started by her family in Windsor, Conn.
Catherine will be sadly missed by her children,
Lowell Jr. of Kenosha, Barbara Ann (Bernard) Gallenberg of Madison and
Loren (Kathleen) of Blair; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and
other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband,
Lowell Sr., in 1985; her brothers, George, Edward and Frank Loomis; and
sisters, Mary Jaworski, Mabel Gunderson and Rose Pohlmann.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the 11
a.m. Mass of Christian burial Monday, May 17, at St. Bruno’s Catholic
Church, 226 W. Ottawa Ave., Dousman, with the Revs. Ralph Gross and John
Rausch officiating.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish
to consider memorials to St. Bruno’s Catholic Church.
