Dave
Brott, 61, a resident of the Town of Gull Lake, lost his battle with
cancer Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at his home in the company of his wife of 42
years, Alice.
David Earl Brott was born Nov. 19, 1948, in Milwaukee, to parents Harold
and Dorothy (Krier) Brott. On July 19, 1968, he was united in marriage to
Alice Martin at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Franklin. He served in the
U.S. Marine Corps from 1968 until his honorable discharge in 1972. Dave
completed his basic training at Camp Pendleton in California and spent one
tour in Vietnam where he was promoted to the rank of sergeant as a weapons
maintenance specialist. Dave later worked for 20 years at Ameritech
Telephone Company in the Milwaukee and Madison areas before moving to
Lampson in July of 1997. Until his diagnosis with cancer, Dave was a
semi-truck driver for Truss Works in Hayward. Dave enjoyed hunting,
fishing with his grandfather at his grandfather’s cabin, spending time
with friends and family, especially his grandchildren, watching his
children’s athletic events, and he also enjoyed spending time with his
two dogs, Cuddles and Shadow, who preceded him in death.
Dave is survived by his wife, Alice; children, Annette (Tim) Wolter of
Madison, David (Kelley) Brott Jr. of Tucson, Ariz., Andrew (Peggie) Brott
of Fort Drum, N.Y.; nine grandchildren, Jacob, Michael, Louisa, Mackenzie,
Eve, Andrew Jr., Corey, Colton and Hunter; siblings, Sandy Garner of
Sommerville, Texas, Bonnie (Mike) Hains of Granton, Bill (Jackie) Bloom of
Big Fork, Minn., and Shelly (Pat) Heller of Crivitz; and many aunts,
uncles, cousins and friends.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tabitha; and his
grandparents.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at Dahl
Funeral Home, 221 Elm St., Spooner. Visitation continues from 10 a.m.
until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, Nov. 12, at Christ Lutheran
Church in Lampson, with the Rev. Leonard Wildauer officiating. Interment
will follow at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery near
Spooner with military honors provided by the Wisconsin Funeral Honors
Program – Spooner Detachment. Casket bearers will be Corey Bloom, Kyle
Bloom, Andrew Brott, David Brott Jr., Christian Stoiber and Tim Wolter.
Honorary casket bearers will be Pat and Darlene Dwyer.
